The city of Charlotte, North Carolina, was founded in 1768 by English-Irish settlers. They came here by way of the Great Wagon Road, and named the town after Queen Charlotte, the German-born wife of King George III of England. Because of this, Charlotte was given the nickname “Queen City.”

The city’s vibrant business culture is a result of decades of growth and a diverse demographic.
