Moving to Charlotte North Carolina?
Events, Life, Sports, Weather
Packed stadiums, courts and fields resound with the thunder of applause all year round in Charlotte. The city is home to two major league sporting teams — NBA’s Hornets and NFL’s Panthers, as well as a minor league team for baseball, hockey (Charlotte Checkers), and soccer. No matter your preferred sport, you’ll find fans just as passionate here as anywhere else in the country.
Aside from the great sports, Charlotte has a vibrant music scene and an active cultural community. Check out the Charlotte Symphony, Carolina Opera, Charlotte Ballet, and many other local performing arts groups. Or, head to one of the dozens of outdoor festivals that occur throughout the year.
From wine & beer tastings to movie and food festivals, there’s something for everyone. And, if you’re looking for a more laid back vibe, head to one of the area’s scenic lakes – Lake Norman, Lake Wylie or Catawba River — and bring a blanket, a picnic basket and some friends to relax by the water.
Although salaries are above average, the cost of living in Charlotte is less than in most cities. However, the city does have a high sales tax rate of 7.75%, and income taxes range from 4.0% to 5.1%. So, be sure to add these costs to your budget if moving to Charlotte North Carolina.
