The Best Places to Live in Charlotte North Carolina
If you are looking for a great place to live, Charlotte North Carolina is one of the top destinations in the United States. According to Glassdoor, Charlotte ranks as the 24th best city to find a gig. It has a low unemployment rate of 4.9% and a median salary higher than the U.S. average.
The area that is now Charlotte was first settled by European colonists in the 1750s. Thomas Spratt, a relative of U.S. President James K. Polk, built a house near the intersection of two Native American trading paths. One was a north-south route known as Great Wagon Road and another ran east-west along Trade Street.
Charlotte is home to several museums and gardens. The Bechtler Museum of Modern Art is one of the top attractions for art lovers in the city. It is home to nearly one million pieces of art, including works by Edgar Degas and Jasper Johns. The museum also hosts temporary exhibitions. This museum is open daily (except Tuesday) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is also open on Sundays from noon to 5 p.m.
Charlotte has three major sports teams. The NFL’s Charlotte Panthers play in Bank of America Stadium, the NBA’s Charlotte Hornets play at the Spectrum Center, and the MiLB Charlotte Knights play at the BB&T Ballpark. There is also a minor league hockey team – the Charlotte Checkers.
