Things to Do in Charlotte, North Carolina
Charlotte, North Carolina is one of the fastest growing cities in the United States. It is the county seat of Mecklenburg County and the second most populous city in the southeastern United States. The city is home to over 10 Fortune 1000 companies. Among them are Wachovia Corp., Bank of America, and Lowe’s. Charlotte boasts a humid subtropical climate with mild winters. The hottest month in Charlotte is July, when the average temperature reaches 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
The city is a popular travel destination year-round, though the largest crowds will be there between May and September. The summer months in Charlotte are the warmest, but the city is also known for its frequent rainstorms. During the spring, Charlotte is home to the Queen’s Cup Steeplechase, a horse race that draws spectators from all over the world. And in May, the city hosts the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race.
The city is home to several sports teams, including the NFL Carolina Panthers, NBA Charlotte Hornets, and MiLB Carolina Knights. You can catch a game at Bank of America Stadium, Spectrum Center, or BB&T Ballpark. If you’re a fan of minor league hockey, Charlotte is also home to the Charlotte Checkers.
Charlotte’s temperate climate makes it an ideal place for people seeking mild climates. In the winter, temperatures are generally mild and drier than in northern regions. Charlotte gets a moderate amount of snow, but it only falls once or twice a year. In the summer, the temperatures can get very hot, but they’re not as severe as in the southern states.
