Things to Do in Charlotte, North Carolina

Events, Life, Sports, Weather, News

In Charlotte, it’s easy to get swept up in the city’s charms. You can snap a photo-worthy skyline view while sipping a cocktail on a rooftop bar, take in a live concert or sample diverse cuisines at an impressive food hall. And though it’s a rapidly growing city, it maintains a friendly calm.

There’s also plenty to do indoors, from catching a concert at an arena to learning about nature and art at Discovery Place. For a family-friendly event, check out Holidays at the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden, a popular seasonal celebration with over a million lights.

And for those with kids, the city’s public schools get above average ratings on Niche, from Metrolina Regional Scholars Academy to Ardrey Kell High School. When you need a break from the children, hit up the rides at Carowinds amusement park or explore interactive exhibits at Discovery Place Science Museum.

The city is a huge draw for sports fans, too. Basketball is king, with the Bobcats and Panthers, and when race week rolls around in October, the city’s roaring.

Craft beer is also a big deal in Charlotte, with 18 local breweries and counting. You can sip pints of complex IPAs while hanging out at Olde Mecklenburg Brewery, try unique brews like Heist Brewery’s Jalapeno Pale Ale or enjoy a brunch and brew pairing at Birdsong Brewery. And if you don’t like beer, you can still sip on wine or spirits at one of the many distilleries in town.
