Living in Charlotte North Carolina

Events, Life, Sports, Weather

A booming financial industry, multiple professional sports teams and stadiums, a renowned culinary scene, stunning parks, and beautiful neighborhoods make Charlotte an ideal place to live for many. But there’s more to this mid-sized southern city than just its amenities: Its people are welcoming, friendly, and hard working.

The city hosts a wide variety of events to appeal to every interest. From a beer and wine festival to a holiday parade, there are countless opportunities for locals to socialize and celebrate their community.

Sports fans will be in heaven with the Panthers (NFL), Hornets (NBA), and Knights (MiLB) playing in town. Racing enthusiasts are also well-served with the home of the Coca-Cola 600 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, as well as the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Uptown Charlotte.

Museums and other cultural venues are also a big draw for many residents. Discover the structural beauty of buildings at The Mint Museum, or explore the contributions of African-Americans to art, music, and culture at the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture.

The city has a well-established public transportation system, but most residents still find it more convenient to get around by car. The city’s roads are busy, especially during rush hour when commuters pour in and out of Uptown Charlotte. Fortunately, most of the traffic is confined to highways 74 and 77. If you choose to move to Charlotte, be prepared for hefty income taxes.
