The Beginning: Scott Arfield

Scott Arfield talks about his journey coming to Charlotte FC and his first couple weeks training with the team.

Foreign [Music] I think this city is such a cool City I Think the transition in terms of being Here and training with the team for Maybe two or three weeks prior to the First game is going to stand me in good Stead going forward and getting a fuel For this city and yeah the first two or Three weeks has been amazing Yeah but I've always inspired to to play In the MLS ever since I represented Canada around 24 or 25 hours and all my Teammates at that time predominantly Played in Emily so sort of waited my Appetite quite quickly in the end of my Career if I came here and I never never Played here I would regret it a lot The move happened quite quickly and I Went to one of my teammates with and About two weeks ago on a Friday and then On the Tuesday I was on a on a flight There so and it was up to me to come out Here and um and basically prove that I Can play Um and I have done that the last sort of Two weeks it's been amazing in terms of Training as I said it's all gearing up Towards that hopefully the New York game When I'm when I'm available to play [Music] You know he's got so many players that Play a very important part in this team And if one player sought it out of the

System then the fuel system doesn't go Ahead and doesn't run as fluid as as it Should so I think that's why he's Brought me into sort of have that that Cabin influence when you get a little Bit older you start to realize how Important being calm and being composed Is when you're younger you can you can Run about Maybe not enough heat but you can you Can run about as much as you can when You get a little bit older you need to Really think about the game you're more Methodical for it and I think the way That it's playing and the system that it Wants to play is is very important for Both of us one for me to play and I Think the system really suits me also Now here's our fear [Applause] Is just having a feel for the game in Terms of arriving at certain moments and Um when it goes out wide or it's gone up To the striker I feel as if I've got a Sort a A good a good feeling about where the Opportunities are going to come so I'm Hoping that I can continue to score Goals in this league and obviously Scoring help your team as many as many Ways as possible The wives the wives are still friendly And they have been since they were at Burnley right up to when I was at

Rangers and then actually come out here And there's been absolutely raving about The place Raven about support us the Stadium the league So he was the first person obviously That I reached out to and he had a major Part in in me being sat in this seat Right now so yeah we can only thank them For that So Ashley is is such a good player I Think this system when it goes goes back When he was like a quarterback when he When we were at England together he's He's Ranger past him is was fantastic His Mobility to get around the picture Was amazing and it helped other players Like me who like to find it a little bit Higher up in the picture I think you'll Be perfect for this system and yeah I Cannot cannot wait to um share the pitch With him again Yeah well I watched the game on uh on Saturday night I thought the atmosphere Was amazing electric I've got two little Girls myself so I think the way they'll Really enjoy coming here and watching The team and and hopefully we can all Meet your proud I haven't tried any barbecue yet but you Want to go now Call umbrella let's go
