Things to Do in Charlotte North Carolina
Events, Life, Sports, Weather, News
Unlike many other East Coast cities that have skyrocketed in real estate costs Charlotte continues to be an affordable city with an average home price well below the national average. However, as a popular destination for relocation it has become a more competitive market with higher apartment rents and increased median home prices.
While the overall crime rate has gone up in recent years, violent crimes like homicides and burglaries have fallen. Most of the city is safe, but you do need to be aware of your surroundings. Especially since it is a large metro area with some of the worst traffic in the Southeast.
There are a variety of things to do in Charlotte for couples. Get buzzed brewery hopping, catch some laughs at a comedy show, or channel your inner artist at a paint and sip night. There are also plenty of kid friendly activities, too. Take your little one to explore nature at Discovery Place, pan for gold at Reed Gold Mine, or bounce around for hours at Big Air Trampoline Park.
The major employers in the city include Bank of America, Lowe’s, and American Airlines. The city has a strong tech focus as well, with companies like Amazon opening huge warehouses in the area. The city also has a robust public transportation system, and the downtown area is very walkable. However, things become more spread out as you move farther from the center.
