of Charlotte's Mayor Vi Lyles. It's been a big week across the
country because we're Celebrating National Clean
Energy Week. Fighting the Climate crisis will take all of
us and it will affect Generations after us. This is
why sustainability and Environmental stewardship are
very important to me. And why I Am proud that Charlotte has
earned the designation of a LEED Certified city, which stands for
Leadership and Energy and Environmental Design. We have achieved the significant
status by developing and Executing plans that reduce
carbon emissions by increasing Energy efficiency and leveraging
clean energy technologies in our Buildings. In my time as mayor,
we have made great strides in Reducing our carbon footprint.
We know the majority of our City's emissions come from the
transportation and building Sectors, which is why we are
committed to the Sustainable and Resilient Charlotte by 2050
Resolution that was passed Unanimously by the Charlotte
City Council in 2018. This Resolution strives to have city
fleet and facilities be fueled By 100% zero carbon sources by
2030. It also sets a community Wide goal for Charlotte to
become a low carbon city by 2050. Personally, I am also proud of
my work as co-chair of America Is All In, which has set a goal
to achieve at least 50 to 52% of National emission reductions by
the year 2030. We have been Encouraged by the multiple
businesses, nonprofits, national And local organizations that
have partnered with us to reduce Emissions. We know it will take
every level of government, every Business sector, and every
person to create a resilient, Healthy city for all. And the
sustainable choices each of us Make every day will help us all
breathe easier tomorrow. Happy National Clean Energy Week.
