Brown spoke about creating an identity for the offensive line and complimented Bryce Young’s demeanor.
Uh excited for week two new Opportunities kind of build upon what we Did well last week but also clean up Some of those mistakes uh the turnover's Obviously been the biggest part of it But then also in addition to that it's Overall execution but I feel really Encouraged by our players demeanors Doing the game obviously all were Irritating ticked off after the game Because losing is never going to be Acceptable but not about making excuses Cleaning up and I got off to a great Start this week so far Like picky and Bradley really bounced Back in this game what did you see from The two of them in this this performance Yeah I would say the overall o-line just In general just the mentality we kind of Try to instill in those guys you know Camp obso leading that room up I thought Was really good from a physicality Standpoint I thought the execution was Well as far as making sure I did the Right way the combination work was good Pushing a pile I thought our Runners ran Hard as well talking about miles and Shuba it was camping Um obviously your background in the Running game and designing the offense How much do you and camping have to Discuss the left guard position now and Obviously zavala's got a background Playing left guard
Why avoid moving him over as opposed to Doing this like Trio thing a couple Reasons why one decides it's the Continuity of what he's already built There so far but back to the Unfortunately question as far as how Much I'm collaborating with with camp in Particular it's kind of the same across The board when it comes to every single Position coach obviously being a Coordinator is my job to kind of oversee And be on in charge of all of it to kind Of help head up in connection with Frank But obviously me and cam meet at the Beginning of the week almost every Single day from an individual standpoint About the rotation but the particular Things involving the Run game A couple of the Falcons players well I Guess Bates in particular talked about Their belief that you guys were going to Work the race very heavily between the Ashes right and that helped him with Those two picks how do you kind of go Against that tendency moving forward now If if that books quote unquote is out on You all yeah I mean I won't even know if It's a tendency just because it's a Probably just a good guess by him and Obviously just from opposite residential Standpoint of having a rookie Quarterback his experience in League he Made some some good plays I mean he kind Of played in some some ways what I would
Call no consequence defensive times Playing flat-footed and we can Definitely take advantage of that in the Future with him but also other opponents Of being in the facing but we also Pushed the ball outside the numbers as Well and also down the field so I would Say it's more of a guess and a true Tendency by him do you think you guys Would take more shots going forward I Think you only had one attempt longer Than 20 yards yeah it was too I think we Believe there's two it's half down the Field over 20 yards but I was saying Generous about the overall execution of Us offensively uh we'll always have you Know skiing plays kind of mixed up when It comes to early down but obviously Which as you mentioned shot plays but I Thought we moved the ball effectively It's more about extending those mistakes And getting back to our bread and butter I know Thomas Frank talked about Jesse Beats breaking the rules right and then You trying to take advantage of that What is that conversation like between You and Frank and Bryce when you see a Tendency like that to then try to shift It and use it against it I mean what is A simple conversation first and foremost Not to have an overreaction to how one Player played in general first time what We expect to see week in week out and Obviously the first game so we kind of
Expected to have uh some non-normal Stuff like any weak one you have like This is my full free in the league has Been different every week one when you Have those certain opponents but I think It's more about again getting back to The basics make sure on the same page as Far the overall execution and when you Have an opportunity to make plays make Them Probably from getting ready what do you I'll tell you what so I mean I attended The workout obviously and watched them In person I've seen them from afar don't Know him personally but I mean he was Juiced up had a great look about himself And he moved really well so I think it's About being able to bring him along the Right way so we kind of have him in a Safe and healthy environment to kind of Get back into playing football but who Knows could be next week could be two Weeks down the road I can put a time Table on that but I think it's Definitely great to see him back in Football and Gladys with us Thomas has Been a lot of discussion about shot Plays and that kind of thing how can you Create space for the offense other than You go along Somebody taking that safety deep well What kind of naturally do a part of our Offense in general when it comes to Trading stacks and bunches or using
Motions so Tommy emotions whether it be A regular receiver motion where you get Set what we call fast motion in our Offense would end up becoming kind of a Full speed Jet Sweep action or it could Also be a late standpoint full speed Motion so a couple different ways to Give guys access to get them going Berkeley down the field Coaching standpoint there I want to ask You about one play it seemed like Terrorist ran a nine got a little bit Off his route Um Bryce obviously threw it down field And they didn't connect what how do you Coach a guy to kind of deal with that Type of physicality down down the field In general and and kind of recover I Guess yeah I'll say the same for all the Receivers across the border anybody we Have was trying to threaten guys Berkeley down the field we have we have Built-in concrete rules for everything That we do but also you don't want to Handcuff your players whether they're Playing as robots uh so I'm not gonna Talk about that play in general in Particular but just overall to answer Your question as far as how you activate Stuff down the field understanding my Landmarks holding space for the Quarterback and again making them play With them plays there and also just time On test in general between just Bryson's
Receivers overall Of shots and What does he bring in there More depth overall I mean obviously DJ Has been a big part of what we've been Building so far was highly effective for Us to All Phase One and phase two phase Three and OTAs and obviously through Training camp as well but we'll see how That goes we'll still have a healthy Road testing in journal with all our Wide outs but uh definitely looking Forward to getting back at some point A different Element terms of just straight straight Ahead speed well I think we have great Versatility in Our receiver room overall So yes he does bring something different To the table but every guy we have is Going to be in the grass bring something Different to the table which we're all Excited about Thomas uh Bryce was pretty Hard on himself post game on Sunday and I'm curious how when you're dealing with A Young quarterback quarterback like That Who let him kind of sit in that a little Bit to kind of flush it out before you Dive in and maybe what his process was Like this week yeah one I would say Every quarterback is different every Player is different I think obviously Bryce is super competitive as we all are And I think it's great to see some time
From an emotional standpoint that Responds but back in the building on Monday we made the initial Corrections Including him and every other group Whether it's running backs o-line tight Ends uh receiver watch from a unit Meeting standpoint and once we make Those Corrections we move on and go back To work But he's been great this week so far Good what's the advantage of having a Full-back who can also play tight end in 21 personnel I think it's a philosophical difference I think depending on how you want to be Built offensively there's a couple Unique guys running the league who I Won't name just to give them you know Some publicity but there's some guys you Can use it can play tight end really Well but also moving it back for the Play fullback it makes it harder Sometimes in my opinion when you have a True fool but it can they can't really Dictate what you get Personnel wise but Also you kind of you can't dictate Coverage as much so guys aren't worried About him running vertically down the Field but to me it's more about a Philosophical differences it's how you As far as how you build offensively was There a throw Read Bryce made Sunday that you were Most impressed with
Um I won't highlight one in particular But I just love this overall demeanor And his approach I mean he's known me Always calm cool and collected but when It comes to when we make plays having Fires showing some emotion for the first Time kind of in that setting it was Great to be able to see as we kind of Learned more about him and him about us Also Football parents but uh he didn't play In Alabama yeah he talked about it his Demeanor I mean I would think this would Be a pretty smooth transition yeah Missing National Football League there's No comparison to that but I think what You mentioned before first and foremost One is how he's built initially I was Raised his mentality the highest town Everything so far but also just because Of playing in big games uh being kind of Started a show for a long time I think He'll be just fine so Evaluate the Run game from Sunday and How do you want that eventually to Factor into what this offensive identity Is I mean we want to continue to build Upon it I mean we talked about when I Don't know what day it was way back when I talked about the overall identity for Us offensively uh first and foremost it Was being physically every position so That starts so fun how to control a lot Of shrimage our Tidings being involved
Our running backs doing a great job of Finishing runs and I've said receivers Being involved as well because we kind Of build upon what we did well from our Last game standpoint clearing some Mistakes getting back to the bread and Butter but also be able to continue to Find ways to find create and win Matchups and ultimately do a really good Job of what we call all right taking Care of the TNT until TNT stands for Techno Talent it's one of the major in Alignment assignment technique and Having great finish as well Thomas I Know you don't want to single anybody Out but how early in the process of Building the Playbook and I guess Figuring out what works and what doesn't Work did you guys figure out levisca's Role I would say probably from the first day I saw them on the grass moving around And so it's more about just trying to Continue to find ways to to build on his Skill set naturally without Well you naturally always build Tendencies so it's great to have Tendencies at times so build upon that Take advantage of us we can break Tendencies and we're going week's going Forward so continue to expand this Package weekend and week out Good Awesome thanks to you as always thank
You
