When it comes to college sports, Charlotte residents have a deep appreciation for their local teams. Fans can watch any Carolina-based team from Clemson University Tigers to the University of South Carolina Gamecocks. Other notable teams are the UNC Charlotte 49ers and UNC Chapel Hill Tarheels. The Queen’s Cup Steeplechase, held each April in Mineral Springs, draws crowds from all over the world. And the NASCAR Sprint All-Star race takes place in May.
