Charlotte North Carolina – Things to Do and See
Events, Life, Sports, Weather, News
As a major North Carolina city with the feel of a small town Charlotte is full of things to do and see. From a visit to the modern city center called Uptown (home to the Levine Museum of the New South and Discovery Place) to a tour of the historic US Mint building, there is something for everyone in this dynamic city.
With plenty of outdoor activities as well, a good amount of restaurants and an outstanding arts and culture scene, Charlotte is a great place to live and work. Many people find that the overall cost of living is lower than most other large cities and the winters are much less harsh.
The city has a diverse economy and is a top location for banking, insurance, and business. American Airlines, Bank of America, and Lowe’s are just a few of the larger employers in Charlotte. Educated professionals are drawn to the area, with top rated schools such as Johnson & Wales University and Central Piedmont Community College located in the area. Niche, a popular tool for finding quality schools, gives the Charlotte area a B+ rating for public school quality.
The climate is mild with hot and humid summers and a short but cold winter. The city is known for its beautiful parks, including Freedom Park where the first gold rush in America took place in 1799. For a unique shopping experience, the 7th Street Public Market is a fun indoor marketplace filled with artisan shops, bars, bakeries, and local ingredients.
