Reasons to Live in Charlotte, North Carolina
Events, Life, Sports, Weather, News
For city dwellers fleeing bustling hubs like New York or LA, Charlotte offers the twinkly skyline they crave with a blissfully lower cost of living and friendly locals. The Queen City also boasts a growing craft brewery scene and plenty of opportunities to soak up the sun on the beach or in the park.
The biggest attraction is the sense of community found in Charlotte. You’ll find that residents are invested in making the city a great place to live and work, and they are willing to go to great lengths to maintain a small-town feel.
This community spirit is clearly visible when you attend a city event. Check out a concert in one of the parks or support local artists at an art gallery. Join in the fun at Furnished, a friendly interior design competition and online auction benefitting the nonprofit Furnish for Good. Or, learn more about the top-ranked Kenan-Flagler Charlotte Executive MBA program.
Another reason to love the Charlotte lifestyle is its year-round warm weather. The winters are mild, and you won’t find a lot of snow here (unlike other areas of the country). But it’s also hot and humid in summer, and flooding can be a problem if there’s a hurricane.
Another thing to keep in mind is that North Carolina has a flat income tax rate, so you’ll want to save some of your paycheck for taxes. You can expect to pay about 4% to 5% of your salary in state taxes, depending on how much you make.
