Living in Charlotte North Carolina
Events, Life, Sports, Weather, News
Ask a Charlotte local what it’s like to live in the queen city, and they’ll regale you with tales of four beautiful seasons, reasonable cost of living, gorgeous East Coast nature, and friendly small(er)-town vibes framed by twinkly downtown skyline. The city’s financial industry drives its economy, but it also has a solid mix of leisure activities: multiple professional sports teams and stadiums, a lively (and evolving) restaurant scene, and tons of family-friendly attractions that range from the Levine Museum of the New South, which explores post–Civil War culture, to the NASCAR Hall of Fame, which honors the sport of auto racing.
For music fans, Charlotte has a wide variety of concert venues, including swanky spots like the Tremont Music Hall that bring you up close and personal with major touring acts. And for a dose of high culture, you can take in performances by the renowned Charlotte Symphony and North Carolina Dance Theatre.
And for fun with the whole family, you can hop between breweries for happy hour with a view at Heist Brewing Company or sample different cuisines in a converted textile mill turned food hall. Or get out and stretch your legs on a hike at Crowder’s Mountain or explore the outdoors at Discovery Place Nature Center. And if you’re in need of some relaxation, the city has plenty of green spaces where you can spread out and relax with a book or a picnic.
