Cuthbertson High School’s Dustin Allen’s boys and girls track teams have won 12 state titles in 7 years. His girls won cross-country and indoor state titles this year. His boys won indoor state this season and he was 3-time conference coach of the year for boys in one season. Allen is named the Charlotte Observer’s Boys Coach of the Year.

Foreign [Music] I actually coached because I didn't have The greatest coach in high school so I Got into coaching when I went to college I was originally going to go into Accounting and I decided no I'm going to Go into teaching instead because I want A coach to make sure that kids never Have the experience that I had in high School I want them to have something Better than that a lot of people don't Know I never I'd never been to a track Meet in my life before I was the head Track coach I coached football my entire Career as a student assistant at South Carolina came to Cuthbertson as a Football coach with the DC when we lost The wedding didn't go to state Championship A.D Mike Helms was looking For coaches and I was coaching wrestling And Lacrosse at the time and I was like I really don't want to do those anymore And he's like well why don't you take Over track and I said well that seems Easy enough I'll go ahead and take that On but I'm just a guy that when I get in I want to do everything the right way And so I got into track hired a staff And you know just started learning these Kids seeing how hard they work people Don't realize in these sports like try Track and field cross country wrestling How hard these kids work just to get on

The track and to compete so we just kind Of got in there and now I I love it in Fact I was supposed to coach football Next year with coach Walsh stepping down I'm actually going to help out with Cross country so if you would have told Me 10 years ago that I'd give up Football for cross-countrying track I Would have said you were crazy but now It's the love of my life I love Everything about it and it's absolutely Amazing Foreign [Music]
