Life
A spirited city, Charlotte has a diverse population with many cultural and historic neighborhoods to explore. From trendy Uptown to artsy NoDa, and suburban shopping meccas, each area has something to offer.
Sports
Charlotte’s rich sports heritage includes the NBA’s Hornets, NFL’s Panthers, and NHL’s Hurricanes. There’s also a NASCAR Hall of Fame that honors the sport’s greatest drivers.
Weather
Charlotte is located in the Piedmont region of North Carolina and experiences a humid continental climate (Koppen climate classification Cfa). Winters are mild with temperatures in the mid 50s, while summers are hot and humid.
Crime
While Charlotte’s overall crime rate is 3% higher than the national average, violent crimes are less common. In fact, there was a 5% reduction in homicides and a 2% increase in rapes and theft in 2022.
Schools
Public and private school enrollment in Charlotte is very high, with over 144,000 students enrolled in 164 different elementary, middle, and high schools. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System is the second largest in North Carolina and 17th in the nation.
Transportation
The city’s limited mass transit rail and iffy bus services may deter some from traveling by public transport, but a car is still a must for most residents. The city is well-connected to the rest of North Carolina and beyond with a wide network of highways and major roads.
