Events, Life, Sports, Weather, News

When you move to Charlotte, you can expect heated sports battles, chart-topping entertainers, and colorful city celebrations. But there are also plenty of fun things to do indoors, like exploring great museums or sipping a pint at a brewery.

If you want to get out and enjoy the outdoors, head up to the mountains or drive 3-4 hours east to check out the Atlantic coastline. But if you’d rather stay in, head over to the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden for Holidays at the Garden, which features more than a million lights and festive music.

As with any major city, you’ll need a car to live in Charlotte. But it’s a bit easier to navigate than you might think. The area’s centralized neighborhoods (like Uptown) are mostly walkable, and there are buses, trains, and light rail services to help you get around town.

Those who work in the financial sector will find ample job opportunities in Charlotte. In fact, the city has one of the highest concentrations of banks and finance companies in the country. Other top industries in Charlotte include energy, automotive, and manufacturing.

The healthcare industry is strong in Charlotte, with multiple facilities receiving national attention. Novant Health, Carolinas Medical Center, and Atrium Health all employ a large number of local residents. Other notable employers include Apple, Bank of America, and Wells Fargo. The city’s educational opportunities are also impressive. Charlotte’s public two-year colleges offer some of the lowest tuition rates in the country.
