Charlotte North Carolina Offers Family-Friendly Fun For All Ages

From heated sports battles to chart-topping entertainers, Charlotte’s calendar is packed with events throughout the year. But the city also offers plenty of family-friendly fun for all ages to enjoy, from splashy festivals and food and wine weeks to art galleries and historical museums.
With 35 miles of greenways, it’s easy to stay active and explore the outdoors in Charlotte. For example, you can try your hand at whitewater rafting or rock climbing, or take a guided tour of the Catawba River, where you’ll find waterfalls and wildlife. In the city, you can hike the Billy Graham Parkway or stroll along Freedom Park. If you’re interested in history, check out the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art or the Levine Museum of the New South.
For some indoor fun, try the Discovery Place Nature Museum or the IMAX Theatre at Bojangles’ Coliseum. If you’re a kid at heart, bounce around for hours at Big Air Trampoline Park or pan for gold at Reed Gold Mine, the first documented place where gold was found in the U.S.
If you’re looking to shop until you drop, you’ll find everything from Nordstrom’s to Macy’s in Charlotte’s SouthPark mall. But the city also has its own collection of boutique shops, art galleries and eateries. Then, you can grab a pint and catch a comedy show or channel your inner artist at a paint and sip night. Lastly, Charlotte has 18 breweries where you can sample unique and flavorful beer.
