Things to Do in Charlotte North Carolina
If you’re looking for a vacation destination that’s rich in history, Charlotte North Carolina is the right place to start. The city was settled by European colonists around 1755. During that time, Thomas Spratt, the great-uncle of U.S. President James K. Polk, built a home near a crossroads where two Native American trading paths intersected.
There are lots of attractions and museums to explore during your vacation in Charlotte. You’ll find a museum that houses the famous Charlotte Symphony, two deluxe theaters, the Children’s Theatre of Charlotte, and the ImaginOn. You can even find a Makerspace and libraries for preteens and teens. This is the foundation of learning for the children in the area.
For those interested in art, the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art is a must-see. Its permanent collection features nearly a million pieces, as well as rotating exhibitions. This museum is one of the most exciting art attractions in Charlotte, and is open every day except Tuesday. It is open from 10 am to 5 p.m., with extended hours on Sundays.
The SouthPark neighborhood is situated six miles south of Uptown. This neighborhood is home to the world-renowned evangelist Billy Graham. The Billy Graham Library is one of the most visited places in Charlotte. The tour lasts around an hour.
