Pros and Cons of Living in Charlotte, North Carolina
Events, Life, Sports, Weather, News
Among the pros of living in Charlotte: a twinkly skyline, plenty to do for families and singles alike, strong job market (especially in finance) and surprisingly affordable homes and rent. That said, you will want to be sure your credit is in good shape before buying a home here. And, like all large cities, traffic can get a bit hectic during rush hour.
If you’re not into the big city feel, the suburbs are a popular choice in Charlotte. The towns of Indian Land and Waxhaw, for example, offer new homes in comfortable suburban neighborhoods with a short commute.
For sports fans, Charlotte is home to teams in nearly every major league. The Carolina Panthers of the National Football League and the Charlotte Hornets of the NBA are both headquartered here, along with NASCAR’s Coca-Cola 600 and golf’s Wells Fargo Championship.
The culinary scene here is also a draw. From barbeque and soul food to new takes on comfort foods, the city offers something for everyone. Check out Haberdish, for example, a trendy eatery that serves dinner and brunch in addition to its Southern comfort staples of fried chicken, mac and cheese, okra, biscuits and unique cocktails. The restaurant is the brainchild of a local celebrity chef.
