Visiting museums in Charlotte, NC, is an excellent way to explore the diverse culture and history of this major South Carolina city. The modern city center known as Uptown is home to several museums, including the Levine Museum of the New South, which explores post-Civil War life in the South. You can also check out Discovery Place and the NASCAR Hall of Fame to learn more about the world of auto racing.
The Museum of the New South, also located in Charlotte, NC, is the most comprehensive exhibit on post-Civil War Southern history in the country. The exhibit Cotton Fields to Skyscrapers features over 1,000 pieces of African-American art and features a series of multimedia installations, videos, music and oral histories. The Museum of the New South has partnered with the Music Maker Relief Foundation to create the We Are the Music Makers exhibit, which features the stories of little-known Southern musicians and their contributions to the country’s music culture.

The downtown core of Charlotte, North Carolina is home to the city’s business and financial district. Uptown Charlotte is a mile-long walking tour of the city that is open to the public and is free to attend. If you’re traveling with children, you can’t miss ImaginOn, Charlotte’s children’s library. This free museum features exhibits aimed at young children, as well as drop-in programs. Uptown Charlotte is also home to several nonprofit small business incubators, including the Uptown Charlotte Entertainment District. And if you’re looking for a great place to spend your hard-earned money, you can visit the Southpark Mall. It has over 140 shops and restaurants and is Charlotte’s largest mall. SouthPark is Charlotte’s upscale mall, and has been on the market since 1970.
In the South End, you’ll find local boutiques and home design showrooms. Nearby Atherton Mill and the Design District, you’ll also find art galleries and sign makers. If you are a sports fan and would like to see a live game, Charlotte is a great place to go. Charlotte, North Carolina is home to the Panthers of the NFL and the NBA. Fans can catch the Carolina Panthers at Bank of America Stadium, located in Uptown Charlotte. Fans can cheer on former Gamecocks like Shi Smith and Jaycee Horn. Robbie Franklin, a second-year student studying sport and entertainment management, recently attended a Panthers game against the Baltimore Ravens.
Fans can also catch a Carolina Panthers game and the Charlotte Hornets of the NBA. The Charlotte Hornets were formerly known as the Charlotte Bobcats.
