Four Anson County Schools are back open after moving to remote learning due to illness.

That move impacted Anson Middle and High, Peachland-Polkton Elementary, and Ansonville elementary schools.

Athletic and extra-curricular activities for those schools were also canceled for the rest of the week.

Located in the Piedmont region, Charlotte, North Carolina is one of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the United States. The city’s population has grown by 3.27% since the last census and is spread across 309 square miles. Despite the rapid growth, Charlotte maintains a small-town feel and offers many attractions for visitors.

Charlotte is one of the most diverse cities in the United States. Its population is made up of 48 percent whites, 35 percent African Americans, and six percent Asians. The remainder is made up of other ethnic groups and mixed-race individuals. Charlotte is also the second-most-religious city in the United States, with a majority of its people affiliated with Protestant Christianity. In addition, the city has a large Jewish population with two main synagogues.

The city was first settled by Europeans around 1755. Thomas Spratt, a farmer from New England, was the first to settle in the area. Another prominent settler, Thomas Polk, the great-uncle of U.S. President James K. Polk, built a house in the area near an intersection of two Native American trading paths. One of the paths ran north-south along the Great Wagon Road, while the other followed the eastern direction along Trade Street.

Charlotte has a rich history. Its courthouse ensured that the city would be the main trading center for the county. Farmers coming to town for legal business would naturally engage in trading.
