Charlotte North Carolina – The City That Never Sleeps

The city of Charlotte is home to many different national and international companies. The top employers in the area include Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Lowe’s, and American Airlines. Although the area is largely focused on Finance, Insurance, and Health Care, it is gaining traction in the tech industry as well. Amazon, for example, has a huge warehouse in the area.

Charlotte is also a culinary haven, with the city claiming the ninth spot in Zagat’s list of 26 Hottest Food Cities. In addition to traditional Southern barbecue, Charlotte’s restaurant scene is growing and diversifying. You can visit the first ever black-owned YAFO Kitchen or check out the upscale Mediterranean fare at Bonterra Cafe. The city also has two locations of Viva Chicken, a Peruvian rotisserie chicken restaurant with a large a la carte menu.

Beer lovers will also find something to love in Charlotte, with over 18 breweries within the city. Olde Mecklenburg Brewery serves German-style brews, while Heist Brewing is a Belgian-style brewpub with a great patio. For those who are more active, you can combine craft beer with a workout at a local gym.

The city is also home to some great festivals. The Festival in the Park, held in Freedom Park in the fall, features live music, local food, and art exhibits. You can also visit the Kings Drive Art Walk, which features local artists. There is also the Latin-American Festival, which features Latin-American music and food. Finally, the Charlotte New Music Festival provides concerts, lectures, and workshops to the music community.
